Thinking of buying one of these (or something similar) for a friend who recently suffered a stroke. Just wants something inexpensive and simple to put between his Echo Dot and some small speakers (don't know what make they are, but they won't be anything exotic).

Anyone have any experience of these or similar amps? I'll be paying for this myself so it needs to be something cheapy-cheap cheap.

Nobsound is generally one of the better Chinese brands, I have had good dealings with units.

Probably OK, I'd definitely consider one myself if I was looking for that sort of thing. Just check that any supplied PSU is properly UK compatible.

Pretty decent so long as you use a good power supply. An old 19v laptop power supply would be a good match.

My cousin has fitted one underneath the dashboard of a vintage Lotus and is very happy with it.

From memory, the Echo Dot tone controls are inoperative on the 3.5 mm jack output, but this may not be important.

This looks good value as it includes a 19V power supply (quality?) screw terminals instead of usual 4mm speaker binding posts.

The TPA 3116 is a good chip.

Thanks guys, that all sounds quite positive. I have an Amptastic Mini- one, which has been permanently switched on 24/7 for the last 4 years without issues. Just can't stretch to that kind of spend.

But this Nobsound also has Blue Tooth, which I assume means he can play stuff off his mobile wirelessly. That could be handy. I don't know how these manufacturers can do it for beer money.
