14C and raining, there are breaks in the cloud so maybe it will clear.

changing clocks back is stupid, especially in an energy crisis. but im sure brexiteers will want it:doh:;)
flood at the end of the road is back and bigger than ever. Noticed tonight it has grass growing out of it. Not sure how that works,
Anyway a couple of weeks back they cordened off the entrance to the road right by it and put up barriers all around the deepest bit.
Since then nothing has happened except that people coming the other way down the blocked off road, and coming unexpectedly to the barriers, have decided to just nose through them rather than reverse all the way back up the street. There's nothing wrong with the road so there's not much incentive not to do it.
So the 'Road Closed' signs got knocked over and everyone has been using the road again for a couple of weeks, just driving over the signs.
Today, though, the workmen have been back, rebuilt the roadblock, and put another one further up. Not actually done any work on the blocked drain that's the cause of all this of course. I give the new road blocks twenty four hours before people start nosing through them again.
Distinctly cooler of late! 20C indoors. Been drizzling with rain on and off for most of today.

Pretty wet and windy right now, but nothing compared to the gales we got in Poole last night.
Rather than go in a hotel we slept in the van. Spent our money on beer, food and a quiz night (which we could have won, but we was robbed by the halfwit who scored our sheet). Took airbed and quilt and loads of fleecy sheets, so we were super warm. But the gales had the van rocking like a good 'un, with plenty of leaves and twigs and rain making a right old racket. But Anita likes all that noise, takes her back to every caravan holiday she ever went on.
raining, 40mph gusting, and cold too. Not likely to improve until April now, at least round here. In fact it's going to get worse before it gets better.
forecast here is to remain at this temp til monday, so my gas bill will be going crazier than i had hoped, but i cant put up with the pain when its colder in house. severe arthritis is a condition that really doesn't like cold, damp conditions.

Struggling up to 9C, but not raining, and the sun is out right now. Last night the car windscreens were freezing over - so hopfully they'll have warmed up a tad now.

It's a shite situation, but your need for a warm home goes beyond just being comfortable. I don't like wishing my life away, but I can't wait for spring to come.

Pretty foggy out there, always seems to get foggy on bonfire night. I wonder if it's all the smoke off the bonfires and fireworks. Used to get a lot of foggy nights when I was a kid, which I think were a lot to do with everyone having coal fires instead of central heating.

I used to have a good head for heights when I was younger (up to about the age of forty), but since then I have become increasingly altophobic.
I spoke to a roofer today who is going to check out all of the guttering.

I have never before seen so many rainbows as I have recently - even in my hippy teens :)

Was 15c when we left Ayr at lunchtime, and stayed about that all the way back to Chorley. Long may these temps stay in the teens (to save on fuel bills), but probably won't.

They were claiming 11C here but it was nothing like that high.
Tomorrow we have eleven hours of continual heavy rain to look forward to. Along with 31mph gusts. It's going to be nasty weather.

I've still got my old one piece biker's nylon rain suit. Nothing get through that! I'd feel a bit of a tit walking round the shops in it though.

I did have one but chucked it a few years back as it was falling apart. Got one of those duck down Gotex things now, have to say it is better. Could sleep rough in it if necessary and water just beads on it.
Got some Gprtex over-trousers too for when it's really bad. Which is every day at the moment.

There's someone else you could say almost all those things about but the electorate trusted him to run the country. It would be interesting to understand how the difference in their approaches led to such a divergence in public opinion despite those similarities. That had crossed my mind although he did pay enough attention to look respectable for the Memorial service.
(btw I don't think for a second it was just being a scruff at the cenotaph that lost Foote that election or that it was just the Falklands that won it for Thatcher).
stayed dry today but it never got above 7c, so heating has been working a bit more ... needs must tho.

yup donkeys have, originally leather shoulders, upper back etc. more modern ones had pvc. no lapels, though they do have a biggish collar you can turn up. british manual worker through and through jacket

British Coal operated from 1987 to 1997 so it's not a proper 1970s one (oil drum brazier and lump of throwing concrete are optional extras).

Weather people got it wrong - again! Supposed to be slightly sunny, but actually we have fairly dense mist. This kind of mist usually clears by mid morning, but it hasn't today.
Eveidence of frost, and car windows frozen up. Currently around 4-5 degreees C.

Local BBC weather forecast was for sunny periods this morning/early afternoon. Reality was drizzle, 10c and dark. Has been chucking it down in huge amounts since 1100.
Rain constant all day. Carries on until 0600 tomorrow. Flood at the end of the street is massive, it's actually up over the pavement.

Weather has stayed fine all day, makes me feel less guilty about sending my lad out there to do all the work while I stay home in the warm. I could get used to this :)

I can't get my living room above 18C at this time of year, not unless I start burning 3KW an hour.
Supposed to warm up again later in the week, not sure whether it will be the same up your way.

If I had my way, prison would be a place to dread. Definitely no heating, no amenities or entertainment, keep 'em in chains and busting rocks up! :eek:

If visibility is less than a mile then it's officially fog. But yeah the fogs we had when I used to live out in the bushes were epic. You'd open the door and it would billow in like smoke.

2C here as well this morning, with a chilly breeze. I've decided I'm no longer cut out for this sort of weather. Certainly not when working outside with no prospect of a brew. A cock up by the brickie meant an early dart for me, and I'm not complaining even though the lost day has cost me money...
4C and no rain again, although it did rain a bit in the night just to keep its hand in.
Forecast shows no sign of an unseasonal heatwave, just more of the same into next week.

4C and very murky again. 14C indoors at the moment, I may bung the heating on for a spell when the missus gets up (eventually :)).

4C, getting foggy again. Forecast is for it to stay this way until at least the new year.
8c here and cloud. not to get as cold tonight thankfully so might save a little money on gas.
we're all posting on the old thread again. Stupid changing months. Why can't we just have days? 1 to 365 (or 366) and then start again? It's 2022 not 22, I don't really need to know what the moon is doing.
