Many know about the Metrum Octave DAC, this is the Metrum Musette, which followed the Octave. I've owned the DAC from new. It was bought from new with the upgrade comprising the DAC TWO Broadcast Modules https://metrumacoustics.com/modules/40-metrum-acoustics-dac2-modules.html.

Price including insured shipping within the UK in a well-packed box is a very reasonable £520. There is no mains cable as the DAC didn't come with one. Included is the Metrum USB stick with USB drivers, which in reality aren't normally required.

Here is what the designer, Cees Ruijtenberg said to me about the DAC Two Modules:

"The broadcast versions of the DAC TWO modules are using forward correction so there is no difference with the other ones. The real differences is that they are hot swappable in case of studio use. Sound wise it is equal to the normal versions. Forward correction means that we split the 24 bit range in two 12 bit ranges. As a result you have a MSB part (most significant bits) and the LSB part (least significant bits) However we handle the LSB part as MSB data which means they will be processed in the upper ( most linear) part of the ladder dac. As a result it has less distortion but is far too loud to combine with the original MSB part. So the LSB should have attenuation to match with the MSB part which is about 60dB. As a result the normal switching noise (as each ladder dac normally has) will be attenuated with 60dB as well and will be in a range of -170dB which is unmeasurable . The sum of both LSB and MSB is a linear behavior down to -144dB and is much cleaner compared to normal 24 bit dacs."
