View Full Version : Best way to restore lightly scratched walnet veneer?

Hello everyone. I'm in the middle of restoring a Heybrook TT2 for my own collection. Overall the deck is in good condition. The walnut veneer is lightly scratched and looking a little lifeless. Can anyone help or give me recommendation on the best way of best way to restore the veneer?

is the venner itself scratched or is it the finish andy?

Hi Jamie I was rather hoping to hear from you as I know that your an expert in this subject. Is it ok to take a couple of pictures so that you can pass judgement?

Howard Restore o finish , I’ve used it on many a veneer with excellent results.

Thanks guys! TBH I've really fallen in love with the sound of the TT2, it's a deck I fancied owning for ages. My example is OK for it's age but it needs some love. I'll get some pictures posted so that anyone can pass opinion.

Personally I would sand that down and apply a new veneer of your choice, it’s pretty easy to do, just time consuming getting it spot on .

I don't really want to take time up applying a new veneer, but thanks for your opinion, always welcome. I'd like to see if the veneer could be rescued. I'm not bothered about the odd nick in the wood.

Then the Howard’s stuff and then once dried apply a coat of danish oil , 20 minutes total time .
