Hi all,

I built the diy audio F6 amp kit in March 2021. It’s worked perfectly since and sounds great. Unfortunately I need to raise some funds for my daughters wedding in October. My question is what is something like this worth? I have no idea where to place it in regards to value. It has some Elna Caps and a Toroidy transformer. The case is the one recommended from Diy Audio.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Well there has been a beautiful joe henry pass F3 clone not selling at around 900 ish recently on many forums . joe sells them for about 1300 quid and they normally would resell for about 50% maybe ??

this might be worth around 600 ???? maybe. its jolly hard to sell anything at the moment so if there is any other way to pay for wedding i would not sell it !!!

Thanks Phil, appreciate the comment. I would be looking at less than £600 for sure. As for selling it, well I don't really want to but needs must and all that.
I might try it in the for sale section and see what happens. Thanks for the feedback though. It gives me a starting point at least. :)

Yes the specs are similar. I don't know them all fully, as it's built as standard, apart from the Elna caps. I used bridge rectifier's also. Otherwise it's pretty standard.
Sound is really good into my Snell E/III's. Drives them with nice refinement and good separation. Smooth and unfatiguing. I have always liked pure Class A though. Had a Sumo 9 plus years ago and a Sugden A25. My kind of sound.

Hi Glen,

Is this amp using Toshiba jfets or normal fets. £600 sounds a little cheap tbh, just my humble opinion. I’ve built one myself and love it, great amp.

it is cheap but clones struggle to sell unless pretty cheap . Must say if it sounds good on snells it would sound good on my impulse taus no doubt !!! Funnily enough i have tried a few class A amps on them and not always liked it too much . the sugden was WAY too much bass and detail . so far found class AB arcam to be rather good with them [ power amp] tried a few amps now .. probably 40-50 amp combos on them if not more

Hi Nigel,

No they didn't have the Toshiba JFets when I placed the order. They are just a quad matched set. I'm not sure how much better the Toshiba ones are..

I think £600 sounds (unfortunately) quite right for a diy effort. Maybe £100 more if you are lucky.
Unless it is housed in a fancy custom made CNC case (in which case it will be still difficult for you to recover what you paid to get it milled).

If I had one I would probably not part with it for £600.

Yeah £600 sounds cheap for the sound you get, but that's the score with DIY. Joe Henry made gives a bit of an uplift if anything, as he's getting better known among the sort of people that want to buy a Pass clone.
