Made this pair completely freehand - no pre-cutting or CNC work by any timber merchant.
Just mark out - and mark with carpenters kinfe and then circ saw/ jig saw by hand and finish with belt and orbital and drum sander... It can be done but it does take ages!!!

This time I chose a clear satin tung oil rich varnish which give a mellow finish.

First up my HPD's with silver bolts

Then Mozza's Golds in them for a test of Golds vs HPDs done a couple of weeks backs.

Full length grilles at present secured by felt pads under pressure top and bottom

I have thought about having black screw heads and a chap who is interested in me making a pair of cabs for him said "would look even better with black screws"... That was yesterday, so I whizzed up 2 sets

Finally the adjustable bass tuning felt I add in the rear of the cabs...

Note - cab is upside down

All in all a very enjoyable project and these are my keepers for the time being - I am seriously prospecting making a pair of large Autographs:-)

How much do you charge for such lovely looking cabinets?

Hi Steve, great looking cabinets. Have you tried the iron on veneer for the edges? I had a go with my OB's and it was surprisingly easy and gives a great finish when sanded and stained. I didn't bother doing it with the Sachiko's though, they have the natural ply edge which I still think looks good. When I move, I should have access to a purpose built woodworking facility (belonging to my partners B-I-L) so I may have a go at building some more cabinets maybe some other OB's or if I can ever afford the drivers, some like yours.

PM received and although not cheap, some cabs from Steve and some good Monitor Gold drivers and rebuilt crossocers could be yours for well under £3K. Some equivalent Tannoy Prestige models with, IMO, inferior cabinets would be more than double and probably triple that price

Are those Tannoy drivers? Don't recall seeing any with brown cones. They remind me of my Pioneer CS-99a's with the brown "FB" fiber cones.

Ah, ok. So the Monitor Gold's were only made with brown cones for the Autograph Pro?
