Hi Folk,

Looking for a nice condition Rega turntable without an arm as I already have a RB200. A vintage Planar 2 or 3 would be fine. For my daughter's system.

Cheers! :)

I have an original Planar 2 (with the wood surround) with no arm that is sat here doing nothing. I bought it new in 1978.

It originally had an R200 but I gave the deck to my brother and swapped out the arm for an RB250 many years ago. When he ditched vinyl it came back to me and the arm was robbed for use on another deck built for a friend.

Unfortunately I don't have the box (my brother lost it) but if you can arrange to collect it you can have it for a donation to a charity and of a value of your choice.

I'm just north of Bristol in the triangle between the M4 and the M5.

Wow, what a generous offer! Can I just double check that this deck is OK geometry-wise then for a straight Rega arm - I know the very first Rega decks had S-shaped arms.

Assuming it will work with a straight Rega arm (I have an RB250 like you used) I'll certainly take you up on the offer and will donate to a charity helping with the situation in Ukraine.

Thanks for the PM.

Yes this originally had the S-shaped arm and it was replaced with the straight RB250, so they are both OK.

I will dig the deck out and post some photos probably tomorrow. It's in pretty decent condition I think, but it might want a new belt or something. Not sure what mat it has - it originally had a rubber mat but might have a Linn or Planar 3 felt mat now.

Thanks Patrick, you can PM me the photos. Belt replacement, mat, service, etc, is not a problem.

Thanks again - the real spirit of AoS :)

Plugged it in and motor runs, platter turns. Mat is thick felt from an original Planar 3. There are a couple of small marks on the black plinth top, but other than that I think it's pretty good.
