RCA phono plug terminated cables surplus to requirement and going free
Two sets of cables, approximately 1 metre long terminated with RCA phono plugs available free of charge.
Normally I like to make up my own cables, as it gives me complete control of both the cable preparation as well as of the soldering of the terminating plugs.
Occasionally, for the sake of expediency, I buy cables that are ready-made, as were the two available here. Upon receipt I was surprised to see an over use of heat-shrink sleeving, covering not only the cable ends but over the plugs as well. Nonetheless I tried them out, but in the end decided not to use them. As an afterthought whilst measuring the cables I found I got inconsistent results, both in capacitance as well as loop resistance. Upon removing all the heat-shrink sleeving, I discovered that the most sloppy cable termination and soldering had been carried out: no wonder the supplier covered up the appalling workmanship with copious quantities of sleeving!
I was about to throw them away, but thought I ought to repair and terminate them properly so as to give them another audition. I could hear no difference between them and the cables I have already, so these cables are available gratis.
