Evening all
Still have my Castle Severn 2s (although no longer in daily use) and have just acquired a pair of Avons.
The bass/woofer on the Avon is 170mm against the 150mm on the Severn 2. So these are not interchangeable.
However, the tweeters are fabric domed 25mm units and they look the same.
Given that the tweeters on the Severns are in a poorer condition than those on the Avons, but overall, the Severn. cabinets and woofers are immaculate, it’s crossed my mind that it could be sensible to swap them around.
Other than removing both tweeters and checking for any markings on the rear of the units, does anyone know if Castle used the same tweeter in these two speakers?
Although Castle are still in existence, a previous attempt at obtaining information about the Severns failed and I see no prospect of it being any different if I try again.
If the tweeters are indeed the same units, is it also likely that the crossovers are interchageable?
Thanks
