I was told by someone, who seemed serious and important, to throw in some info on myself here.
My name is Finn.
My childhood was in a lot of countries due to diplomacy jobs in family.
Now I live in Sweeden.

My gear consists of Wilson Grand Slam speakers, Audio Research Reference 610 T power amp towers and Audio Research Reference 5 preamp.

I have the "Nagra T4" Open Reel Studio Recorder, a Norwegian "Audiostone Pythagoras" TT with the Swiss "Thales Zero" arm and the "Lyra Titan i" cartridge with "Whest Audio MC Ref V" double mono phono stage.

My CDP is "Electrocompaniet EMC 1 UP".

I also have some other gear like FM and Cassette players, SSD Hard Disc based studio recorder and a DAW.

In general I use MIT cables in most links.

Feel free to ask.
However, I am not a guy who usually tell around about my gear.
Why would I.
I just enjoy it.

I have a dedicated listening room in my red Swedish wooden house.

If you have ever been to Sweden, you will know most houses here are red wooden houses.

Wow! You have some incredible equipment that most of us can only dream about.

Apropos the Nagra T4, I think you are about the third member, in almost as many weeks, who has mentioned owning one.

What is the Swiss 'Thales Zero' arm? Or come to think of it, the Norwegian 'Audiostone Pythagoras' turntable. Neither of these items are known to us here in the UK. Do you have any photographs of them? In fact we would love to see some pictures of the whole of your system if you can manage it.

What sort of music do you like to listen to?

Don't wory about 'Actually Boris'. His real name is Alex and he has a predeliction for rioja.

I'd love to see what size room you are running the Grand Slams in :) That's the best part of 1/2 the price of a small house in certain UK areas :eyebrows:

Now, we'll have to "educate" you away from the wallet busting system you own and get you into some "proper" HiFi gear that doesn't look as "macho..."

You know, some very expensive audio gear is raved about BECAUSE it's expensive and a "mugs eyeful." Doesn't mean it communicates the musical message any better you know... An Audio Research Ref 5 preamp may cost nigh on £10K in the UK, but just how much better is it (if at all) than a croft Series 25"R" model, which isn't finished as well, but sounds excellent even though there's not a single "Clarity Cap" in there.....

As for speakers, ever heard some decent Tannoys on the one hand, or a full blown PMC or ATC active rig on the other? Superior drive units, active crossovers and a proper professional background should make for a jaw-dropping quality of reproduction over most "audiophile" passive speakers except for the very best ones (I'm thinking Tannoy, big Klipsch Corner Horns and possibly the exquisite Harbeth 40.1's if freestanding enough).

Sounds like I'm rubbishing your system. I'm not, as I don't know how you got to what you have. It would be interesting to start a second system based on the better stuff we like (Tube Distinctions as a "luxury" version of Croft amps for example).
