This hybrid valve-SS amplifier works especially well with low impedance headphones like planars, and has a couple upgrades including the OPA2107 opamp which made a big difference. This is the later model (ver 4.0) with several SMD parts and also runs a little cooler than the older models. It works perfectly and has a silent background and is in perfect physical condition.
I’ll offer it with choice of valves, either the M8161 or 6HM5, each highly rated by tube rollers.
The opamp and the Silmic bypass cap each use separate brown dog DIP-8 adapters so either can be changed or removed easily.
Upgrades:
OPA2107 opamp (big improvement)
Elna Silmic II bypass cap on the opamp
Valves: Mullard M8161 or 6HM5 Yugoslavia
Bypass caps on the Vbe multiplier (for better transient response)
