Aftermarket upgrade speed switchable TT power supply. The Orbit 2 is a highly sophisticated solution specifically designed to improve the performance of the mediocre motor drive systems common in many belt-driven turntables.
The Heed Orbit 2 is a two-speed (33.3 and 45 r.p.m) quartz-driven, quadratura-generated power supply unit for use with any turntable equipped with an AC synchronous motor consuming up to 3W electric power.
Its output supplies a 230V voltage at two frequencies, namely at 50Hz for 33.3 r.p.m, and at 67.5Hz for 45 r.p.m, this makes it possible to connect your turntable directly the Orbit 2, without any modifications. The Heed Orbit 2 enables you to change speed by pressing the button at the front to change between 33/45 rpm without needing to change the belt on the turntable.
The manual lists the following TTs as suitable:
· Rega Planar 2, Planar 3, P2, P3, P25
· Goldring GR1
· Linn Sondek LP12 Basik
· Roksan Radius 5
· NAD 533
· Thorens TD160, 166
· Manticore Mantra
I have used it with good effect on both a Townshend Rock III and Townshend Rock II. It is in excellent clean condition (apologies for the dust in the photo). Supplied with the IEC connector to replace the TT 13A plug.
These seem to be £499 new.
