http://oestex.com/tubes/Mac/MC-3500.html This monster used 8 6LQ6!
I used to be into ham radio and had some leagle amps and some illeagle ones that where more fun,one of them ran 12 6LQ6 tubes!
Each tube can produce more than 50 watts!
They where TV sweep tubes (beam pentrods)
I think it was RCA if my memory is right that made the best ones some coating that made them last far longer(Mil spec)
Anyway when no one had much use for TV tubes I bought boxes of 50 to 100 of these old gems and met a guy selling his MC 3500.He wanted $200.00 for it, at the time I was not so flush with money and had other plans so I passed.
When I sold my ham gear I included all the new 6LQ6 tubes as a bounus! not knowing they would ever be worth thousends of dollers being they stopped makeing them in 1980 and they are very much sought after.
I would like to get imressions on the one that got away!
Anyone ever hear audio from a 6LQ6 amp just think in single ended pentrode you could get at least 50 watts per channel! http://72.52.208.92/~gbpprorg/mil/ads/6LQ6.pdf
