Hello already! Sheeesh. Can't a guy be anti-social these days?

Seems to be a nice little forum. Except I noticed there's an awful lot of Brits posting here. That's a bit weird. What's up with that?

Anyway, I'm a trade member and it says I need a trade account, only after I've introduced myself here. Now that that little unpleasantness is out of the way, someone want to take care of that and then leave me the hell alone?

Thanks.

Yes. I like that the Powers That Be here don't seem to be the uptight, puritanical prudes that tend to run some of the more popular forums where language is concerned. That's refreshing.

All the best to you ;)

Thanks!

Welcome Steve. Love the avatar. :)

Thanks!

Tried to come up with a bunch of hype and purple prose but it was just too much work. Dogs and handguns are plentiful and cheap here in the US so I decided to take a bit different marketing approach. http://www.q-audio.com/images/biggrin.gif

Welcome Steve!

Unfortunately, I too am not a dog lover, so do your worst! ;)

Now, if it had been a kitten...

That would have been a different matter. But don't worry - his mate has got his back...

No?

Well hell.

Hmmm...

Er, how 'bout your mum? How would she feel knowing her Alex was directly responsible for the horrible death of this beautiful, innocent creature? http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/images/smilies/devil.gif

Nah. Like my mama always used to tell me, "Steve," she'd say, "never give a dog an even break."

Besides, Gidget's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taco_Bell_chihuahua) already dead.

Yo quiero R.I.P.

Brits sensible and serious?

That myth was dispelled when I was first introduced to Monty Python and Benny Hill.

Hello Steve and welcome, those cables look like they come from a different and very vintage era, which is what i'm most happy with btw

Thank you for the kind words.

I am something of an anachronist. And of course the very first audio cables were simply cloth covered wire, which was carried over from the telephone industry as were many other audio technologies.

Some years ago I had an opportunity to play around with some old Western Electric cloth covered wire and was left wondering just what the "problem" was that was solved by shitting great gobs of plastic over everything.

Sure, plastics can make a more durable cable capable of surviving harsh environments, but here we're just talking about something that doesn't have to do anything more robust than sit quietly behind a hi-fi system in a nice comfy home.

So I found an old guy down in Texas who made reproduction cordage for antique telephones and had half a dozen ancient braiding machines in his garage and the rest, as they say, is history. http://www.q-audio.com/images/biggrin.gif

Thank you, Sir.

And before Monty Python and Benny Hill hit US shores, I'd grown up on a steady diet of MAD Magazine, The National Lampoon, Lenny Bruce and George Carlin. Oh, and with a bit of Firesign Theater thrown in just to round things out. http://www.q-audio.com/images/biggrin.gif

Did you hear that we've repealed your independence? You'll have to start driving on the left soon, the proper side of the road.

Do your worst. Shit, half the people around here don't even know what a lane is let alone which one to drive in. And then there are all the tweakers on bikes. Could use a little good old fashioned British colonial organization and administration around here.
