Two vintage 8" Alnico magnet bass/mid drivers from a pair of speakers I built over forty years ago and I can't remember what they are. If you know, tell me. My initial thoughts are maybe Isophon, they have that German look about them and look to be high quality.

I recognise the baskets but not in white. I'll have a dig.

They're not white, the alloy is matt finished like a sand casting.

Yeah, could be Russian. They've made some good speakers. Actually, I seem to recall these may have been used in Decca's own speakers, they used a variety of makes including their own..

That's the answer it seems. Now what to do with them? :)

Yep, definitely Soviet-made as they have Soviet OTK ("quality control") stamps.

Mind you JPW were just as bad using convicts to make their cabinets [emoji23]

When I still lived in Russia, one of my mates had speakers made by this factory. One day he decided to "upgrade" them (replace wiring, upgrade crossovers, that kind of thing) and asked me to help him. When we opened them up, there was half a brick in one of the speakers and a letter from a prisoner wrapped around it ("whoever finds this, please let my mother know that I'm OK"). It was ~15 years after the speakers were made, so the guy had probably already served his sentence by then.
