For sale legendary pair of Impulse H2 loudspeakers. I'm the 3rd owner, original owner only lightly used them and put them into storage so drivers are in particularly good condition, as are the cabinets and grilles.
Beautiful finish but with some light fading to the veneer.
Plenty on the net about how magical these are, they are just a bit big for my living room layout, sadly.
Scale is immense as is bass control and the sort of presence you can only get with horns. Matches the Oto I'm selling perfectly.
Collection from Stoke with a decent sized car.
£1150

The Impulse H2 speakers are one of very few horn-loaded speakers I think are any good and can listen to. They have the facility and can benefit from bi- or tri-wiring to the amplifier.

Yours look to be in very good condition.

Good luck with the sale.

These H2s look in brilliant condition. Trying to sell my Quads to fund these, knowing my luck they will go before I get enough funds.
Don't know what you are thinking of replacing them with but I do have some other speakers that might help towards the price of yours?
Epos M12 with stands one owner, Mint, in Cherry. Or my trusty Jamo concert VII one owner in Black ash?Worth around £150-£200 for either pair.

H2s don't seem to hang around for long. I should have jumped straight in when i saw them for sale yesterday.

If anyone reading this owns a loudspeaker company or is starting one they might want to consider producing a similar design. Demand appears to be outstripping supply :)

Yeah, I’ve had a pair, they were great. Should’ve kept them.

Bizarre I was just thinking the same these sell very quickly you would think someone would remanufacture. Great speaker heard them at a Hifi show in Edinburgh years ago but was poorer then so couldn’t buy them

How much would they cost with a worthwhile marginb though,?

There appears to be or was someone trying to recreate them or an Impulse mk 2. There is a Facebook page. I think average Hifi markup must be at least 100%

I just wanted to play a note of caution. One must avoid talking up the absolute sound quality of the original H2. I had the Impulse H2 and H6 on extended demo many years ago. I was left a bit underwhelmed with the H2- it just didn't impress. By comparison the H6 was a cracking little model.

Other back loaded horns I have owned are Lowther Acoustas, Lowther Medallions and Hedlund Horns, so I have a reasonable background against which to judge.

Loudspeakers shouldn't "impress" - they should be neutral and not make their presence felt.

The Impulse H2 were/are one of the very few horn loaded speakers I can listen to. They are a very good speaker - and yes I spent a year with a pair of Lowther Acoustas.

I think you know exactly what I meant :)

Definition - "to cause someone to feel admiration or respect"

So the most impressive speakers are those that don't impress you...?

If in the sense of not having any character, then yes. If in the sense of being mediocre, then no.

Is the Ta'aus better sounding?

Taus have a slightly different crossover and the curved front baffle also makes a difference. In my opinion taus are a better sounding speaker - had h2’s for 12 years or so and Taus for 3 or 4 years. Best improvement was replacing the tc90k tweeter for the tc120td5 (requires a tweak to the crossover) but still wonderful speakers in their stock form
