View Full Version : ebay DAC
I just took the cover off my cheapy DAC from ebay.
It uses an NS6000 2001 chip but I cannot find a data sheet for this. Anyone know what it is?

not heard of it. if its a cheapy then buying another dac would maybe be order of day
It looks from the picture that the screen printing on the chip has been rubbed off? If so where did you get the info given in your post?
NS would normally refer to National Semiconductor, but Googling doesn't bring anything up. Is there a link to where you bought the Dac?
Thanks for the replies.
The numbers are on the chip itself but the flash obliterates it on the photo.
I am just asking for interest.
I am intrigued now. Do you have a link?

Prices have come down a bit since I bought mine.

I think you are right. I am considering a Cambridge Audio Dacmagic 1, 2 or 100 or Dacmagic plus or maybe one of the Beresford DACs. All of which are available (second hand) for about £40 to £50 ish.

If you want a basic second-hand DAC at a sensible price that sounds decent, take a look at the Musical Fidelity V-DAC. It's an effective bit of kit, I have one in my collection.

By the way, I owned all the older Dacmagics at one time or another and found them unimpressive.
Thanks everyone for their input. I'm keeping an eye out.
