I didn't discover the Heil until '84 when seeing an ad. in Exchange & Mart selling ESSs and quoting "Sound as Clear as Light".
I was in Bromley and the seller brought them to me from Bexleyheath for a period. They were flawed with a rattle in the Heil, but I spent several hundred upgrading and rebuilding them, phoning ESS a lot.

My friends were absolutely blown away when they heard the result. LBC was advertising wine with a cork from bottle insert which I heard from the bathroom whilst cleaning my teeth; I was absolutely stunned at the squeaking cork sound, shocked. They weren't bettered by the B&W 801s we all auditioned at least at the top end.

I think using a good mid-range driver is much more important than a good tweeter - if it came to a choice between using one or the other.

The midrange or mid-bass driver (in a two-way) is the one that's reproducing 80% of what we hear.

Or have a speaker that uses both?
Good design that...

well that's why I said 'If it came to a choice'...Like Klipsch said, 'The midrange is where we live.'
