AirPulse A100 active monitors in gloss red. These are staggeringly good speakers, seriously staggeringly good. They are designed by Phil Jones - a name many of you will know well, and a name which is linked to having a bit of a gift for speaker design. Acoustic Energy ae1 designer and owner .
These have 5" woofers and horn-loaded ribbon tweeters, running from two separate TAS5754 Class-D amplifiers, with 10w+10w on the tweeters and 40w+40w on the woofers. That may not sound a lot, but these speakers are really much more powerful than the tech specs suggest.
On the rear panel of the right speaker, there's 2x pairs of RCA inputs allowing a direct feed from any line level source. There's a USB input and an optical input which feed the internal DAC which supports anything up to and including 24/192KHz. There's a subwoofer output too .
The volume/input is essentially an infinity dial, and controls the same volume parameters as the remote control, and the subtle bass/treble controls are there as well. Lastly there's the output for the left speaker, cable included obviously. The interconnecting cable is a lot longer than one would normally get with an active speaker at 5m/16ft, and a very high quality cable it is too.
Bluetooth audio streaming directly to the speakers is also possible with the onboard Qualcomm aptX convention supported. Frequency range is 52Hz to 40KHz, and the dimensions are 160mm x 283mm x 255mm. There are rubber feet on the bases.
new on the 18th of April 2020 , the receipt is in the box. They are in mint condition, unabused and come with all the accessories (multiple cables, manual, white gloves, cable tie, remote and power cable). apart from a pin size dint in one of the metal dust covers on cone .
I paid £659 for them, so I'm looking to get £300 plus insured postage within the UK. International postage possible but it's completely at the buyer's risk and expense, the full cost of the insured postage on top of the asking price.
Don't underestimate the quality of these little'uns.
