This is Tom's top spec version of this amp with the following differences

It has three inputs and a remote control volume so it can be used as a integrated which is how I used it

It has been upgraded internally with all silver wiring and WBT speaker posts at the rear, - This makes it the silver signature version and I have the certificate for this.

The power switch has been moved from the rear to the RHS so you dont have to reach over it to power it on and off

The main caps have been upgraded from Musicaps ( Which a lot of people upgrade to ) to Jupiter caps

It is fitted with Emission Lab 300b XLS valves which are very well made and last forever - Oh and sound great too

It also has some high quality Reflektor 6922 tubes fitted

When you look at it the rectifier tubes are not fitted as it does not need them - there are two silver caps fitted in their place - I have the tubes though,

It was originally manufactured in 2011 and upgraded to silver spec in 2014

It has the Sentry start up circuit which checks the circuits before powering them up.

I would like £4,500 onohttps://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50128878917_abbd977085_k.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2jnHBeP)IMG_2216 (https://flic.kr/p/2jnHBeP) by S ONEILL (https://www.flickr.com/photos/137926682@N03/), on Flickrhttps://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50128658676_3ebebb499f_k.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2jnGtLy)IMG_2220 (https://flic.kr/p/2jnGtLy) by S ONEILL (https://www.flickr.com/photos/137926682@N03/), on Flickrhttps://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50128090998_60b812a5a5_k.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2jnDz21)IMG_2223 (https://flic.kr/p/2jnDz21) by S ONEILL (https://www.flickr.com/photos/137926682@N03/), on Flickrhttps://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50128658896_69f6e94e70_k.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2jnGtQm)IMG_2222 (https://flic.kr/p/2jnGtQm) by S ONEILL (https://www.flickr.com/photos/137926682@N03/), on Flickrhttps://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50128091318_eb18d3def6_k.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2jnDz7w)IMG_2219 (https://flic.kr/p/2jnDz7w) by S ONEILL (https://www.flickr.com/photos/137926682@N03/), on Flickr

Bump for this weekend - and still open to reasonable offers

If by any chance anyone is waiting for me to drop the price by a chunk before pouncing you will be waiting some time - I know how good it is and therefore what it is worth ;)

"When you look at it the rectifier tubes are not fitted as it does not need them - there are two silver caps fitted in their place - I have the tubes though."

I'm not sure I'm gifted enough to understand this. If it was originally built with rectifier tubes how do you take them out without consequences.

its got solid state soft start rectifiers in it now i think.

I was speaking to a guy the other day who had the valve rectification changed to SS in his Cary amp, he reckoned it was better though he mentioned reliability rather than SQ.

Reply from Tom below - Just goes to show the value of a good manufacturer too

The rectifiers on your Jota are solid state and are inside the chassis. The rectifier tubes when used provide a only soft start up, so the heaters come on and when the tubes heat up it conducts and connects the high tension voltage to the power valves.
The plugs are just potted links, this means that the ht is turned on to the valves without the delay.
I intend to design a solid state soft start that will replace both the tubes and the plugs.
So the way to look at this is when the valves are fitted if there is an obvious softening of base notes then fit the plugs, but if there is no problem with the base keep the valves in this position.

Perhaps you could explain.

I read that the Jota has spec of 18wpc arrived at by having parallel single ended 300Bs.

So how is it I see only one 300B per channel??

There are plenty of reviews out there that will explain why.

The amp outputs 20wpc using these 300B XLS Tubes which are top quality strong well built tubes.

" In their quest for yet broader appeal, Art Audio’s designers wanted to increase the Diavolo’s maximum output by 50%, which for a 300B-type amp is already hefty. This would make it compatible with an even broader range of popular speakers, spreading the euphoria-inducing 300B virus amongst those still married to that most American of all beliefs -- that bigger is better. Seriously though, unless your speakers are deficient in the sensitivity department -- in other words, brawny he-man jobs sucking up juice like a V-10 -- most home listening takes place at output levels well below 10 watts. A robust 20Wpc amplifier with graceful overload and quick recovery behavior should be more than sufficient (and anyway, a 200Wpc amplifier will only play 10dB louder).

To this end, the Diavolo’s single GZ37 rectifier circuit was deemed insufficient to produce truly linear low bass at the Jota’s envisioned maximum power output. Faced with the option to add a second pair of GZ37s, Tom Willis produced a proprietary solid-state circuit instead that now precedes the tube rectifier stage. This hybrid marries the sonics of tube rectification with the low-end control of solid state. Additionally, transformers and voltage regulators were beefed up and power-supply capacitance substantially increased. The bias current was raised to 150 milli-amperes and plate voltage to 450 volts. "

Hope this helps

I haven't been on AoS for years and the first thing I see is my old amplifier that I had upgraded (in 2014, so it appears). It also has 8 and 4 ohm taps, I seem to remember. It outputs 22w. £4,500 is a good price, I think the upgrades I did cost almost £2k (silver wiring, volume control, a few other things I can't remember). OK for speakers around 90db+.

A late bump for the weekend

Would consider a swap / Part ex for something interesting - maybe a EAR Yoshino V12 is lurking out there

Bump for the weekend

Yes its a lot of money but its a lot of amp too

I have a spare set of virtually unused ( less than 50hrs ) Emission Labs 300B XLS's for this amp which will last a life time - they can become part of the deal for the right money

These are probably the best 300b's without going to daft money

If only I had the dosh and speakers to match.

I had an AA Quintet and matching pre some years ago. Outstanding amps. Only other valve amp that I’ve had that compared was a Cary with big Border Patrol psu.

Plus, Tom at Art is a lovely, straightforward gentleman. Fascinating to hear some of his views on audio.

I can only imagine this amp is up there with some of the best available.

GLWS👍
