Its getting closer to the point I can think about a preamp with phonostage

The plan is to get a Salvation TT with Aluminum platter and intially a Denon 103 with custom headshell and when I can afford a London Jubille
At the moment my DAC performs as pre amp so I will need to either get a phono stage with a volume control or a pre amp with phono stage/ After reading Clive experiments with loading I like to be able to play with this to get the best of the Jubille
I do not mind going second hand as not in any rush I want to get it right and if I cannot do within 750 budget then it can wait even longer
So far thoughts are demo a Croft but open to other ideas

What I might do is go Nighthawk phono stage with SAC Passive pre

Neither pretty but functional
I will hear the Nighthawk with the Salavation and Decca reference in a few weeks so at least I will know if right direction

I have never heard a Raysamuels product, but I have never read a bad review of one either so would be well worth a look John. I would be very interested in what you think.

Matching phono stage from the company that makes your power amplifier should be worth a look too as I thought the power amplifier sounded very good that time when I heard it in your system.

Cheers
I will hear one in a few weeks time it looks to be real bargin and will give me flexiabilty with the Cartridge changes Although I might just go a basic Decca/London rather than the Denon 103
Yes the SAC phonostages look really interesting I really like the idea of LGD version they have Will just depend on how good the Nighthawk is. A friend has one so will hear his

If you're going for a London cartridge, Croft's £500 phono stage works really well with them.

I give you a call latter Dave when I am getting closer to purchase about hearing the Croft
I hope to hear the London Reference in a few weeks time and will be able to compare against most of the Decca range as well as a Denon 103 with the Clinamen ebony body

The 103 has a conical tip which may or may not be an issue. The London WILL be an issue and hopefully a rather pleasurable one... :gig:

The London will partner really well with the Tangental arm So plenty of musical pleasure
