I'll be listing a few items that were part of my Stepdad's collection over the next few days. In addition to these, there will be a couple of reel to reel recorders (Revox and Sony), Quad 34, FM4, 44 and 405 and possibly a few other things. I'll list each of them separately as I get them cleaned, tested and photographed.
Let get the ball rolling with these though:

Lovely vintage speakers from Sony with their quality ULM drivers. Japanese made, beautifully constructed and extremely heavy.
They were connected to his living room Quad system but, I suspect, rarely used and even then, not at volume.
Specs are on the photos.

I've hooked them up and tested them. All drivers are working. They are a bit thin on bass but then most things are compared to my Yamahas! They might have always been like that, or they might have stiffened up a bit from lack of use in which case they may improve with use. They could just need placing against a wall.
There is a tiny bit of crackle from the L-pads when you move them, but they work fine.
There are a few marks at the edges of the bass drivers. Possibly the dope from the fabric surrounds has leached in a little but they are not softened, so nothing to be concerned about I think.

Cosmetically, they are generally very good for their age. There is some fading evident when you remove the grilles. One speakers has some small dings on two rear corners and a small scrape on one side. There might be some other small marks. Hopefully the pictures show their condition.
The lovely 70s grilles are included. Pegs all good and hold them securely.

Price wise, the last set on here looked like they got down to an asking price of £550 before they sold, so I'll start these at £500 please and see where we get.
Pictured stands are not included but could be for sale by separate negotiation (they belong to another set of speakers really, but do suit these well).

Collection in person only from just outside Bicester please (OX25).

Lots of views but no interest. Too much money, or just because it's the holidays?

Happy to discuss reasonable offers.

I was over at Geoff's place today for something else. Geoff kindly plumbed these Sony speakers into his system. I could tell immediately these were something special. Loads of details and fantastic imaging. And then after a few minutes the drivers loosened up and the sound took on a depth and mellowness whilst retaining the detail and imaging - very appealing.

Other than the minor cabinet marks already mentioned the cabinets are in great condition. Obviously cared for over the years. From what I understood these speakers only had one owner. The tweeter and midrange controls work as they should. Lovely speakers.

Thanks for the sale Geoff. Looking for pics from anyone that has replaced the capacitors on the crossover. They are probably on the rear of the speaker inputs and accessed through the bass speaker and perhaps someone on here has done them before. Really pleased with the purchase and whilst they don't have the detail and scale of my other speakers, it is not a fair comparison given that some of them cost about twenty times more. I know hifi is not about looks but I think these look the business.
