View Full Version : Streaming again, now with Moode 7.3.0
After being without my RPi (and associated NAS drives) for several months, due to a corrupted SD card (loaded with OSMC/Kodi), Darren came round today and installed the latest version of Moode, and everything's working again!:yay:
I was certainly missing access to a combined 7TB of music...

So my question is, for anyone else running this version of Moode, what are your chosen favourite audio settings? I haven't done anything major at the moment, in terms of deviating from the standards settings, save adding 'Default Curve' to the Parametric EQ, which I found notably improved detail and clarity.
So what are your favourite settings on the audio menu, in terms of what you consider results in the best sound, from those outlined from Alsa options, to Audio Renderers, which I believe is the last adjustable option in which to tweak sonics?:cool:

good your back in business marco.. mine isnt communicating with my pc's etc.. shows up in the router page.. ive given up on it. must be the router i think as when i got a new one it stopped working

I'm a Moode user - works well for me. I use it with my ripped CD collection on a Synology NAS, and also Spotify. Output is via a BOSS DAC Hat, then RCA to amp, etc. I leave everything pretty standard - no Parametric or Camilla stuff. Maybe I'm easily satified, but it produces a very good sound as is, and I see not reason to fiddle.

Ah, sorry to hear that, mate. I'll ask Darren to pop by this thread and see if he can offer any advice that might solve your issue. What made you change router - can you not revert back to your old one? I'm just using the one that came with my Virgin package.
But yes, defo good to be back in business - too much music not to have access to for too way long, plus nice for Del and I to be able to chill out with some choons in the lounge, as well as upstairs:)
Although, she's not as much of a fan of classical music as me (I listen to all sorts, of course), but she prefers something with a 'funky beat', to get her wee toes tapping, lol!:D

Cheers, Geoff. This version of Moode is new to me, so I could be imagining hearing an improvement with the added EQ, so I'll switch it off at some point and see if the different is noticeable or not. I'll also have a fiddle with the other settings and see what they do, sonically, if anything. All good though, so far:)

You mean Volumio? No worries though, if you don't need it. Think I'll just stick now with Moode, as it seems pretty stable and reliable, and perfectly good for my needs:)

yeah volumio.. it seems to set up but maybe something is blocking it. i dont know. nowt wrong with hardware, so its either software /settings/ or a router issue as router was changed for the broadband
Ah, no worries, mate. I'm loving this version of Moode, as it works well and seems to be rock solid. Other versions in the past, including those from Volumio, were sometimes a bit flaky. Therefore, I think I'll be sticking with this for the time being:cool:

I will add the following to this but will first say while I use Moode Audio 7.3 I only use it as a player connected to my LMS server so do not use the MPD player I use the Squeezeplay option which means the EQ adjustments are not applicable .
Settings I have found that helped with my Pi players is to switch off all additions that I do not use . All of my players have no screen and are connected via ethernet cable so I switch off HDMI output , Wireless Output , Bluetooth Output and anything else I do not use . These are all under the system settings. Under the Audio I switch to Direct HW output which means all the decompression and work is done on the player and not the server (in my case as the sever is a stand alone Pi4 8GB with LPSU this matters probably less so with a NAS) . All the above seems to reduce the noise floor and make voices and instruments sound more relaxed and real .
As i say this is just what I find and may not work in other systems.

That's a lot of music! I had 2TB but have started cutting it down slowly. I am now down to around 650GB.
I am very much into extended, alternative takes, and versions of the same track. Some old songs that initially showed up in mp3 format after having been ripped from singles and LPs, were later redone for CD, but were not an actual conversion of the original audio master tape. Stuff like that interests me for some reason.
