Afternoon all, I'm getting a second turntable shortly and am wondering how I'm going to run them through the same amplifier set up, I was wondering if anybody could help with pointers?
Turntable 1 - Roksan Radius with a Sumiko BPS high output
Turntable 2 - Technics SL1200G with a Dynavector 20x2 low output
Pre-amp - JDI Amplifiers bit of a rarity but it has 1 phono input suitable for MC cartridges. from the very scarce info available I have this - "The MC input has particular attention to accuracy placed on it and is designed to work at true signal levels associated with moving coil cartridge output" but alas no other info or ohm / gain adjustment. Essentially with a HO MC it's very loud at 10pm when the volume knob starts at 7pm! (volume goes from 7pm to 5pm, i usually listen to it around 9pm, it's bonkers loud at 12pm)
I'd like to have both TT set up so I can switch with minimal fuss and to this end I think I have 2 options -
Option 1 - some sort of switching box - probably the Beresford TC7240 as it's readily available here in the UK (about £100). I had a quick chat with the guy and he says this 'should' work but I might have to extend the earthing from the switch to the pre-amp, that's not a biggie though..
Option 2 - a separate phono stage for either TT (probably the Roksan) then plugged into the AUX or Tape input and just select on the pre-amp between phono and AUX/Tape for TT 1 or 2. Will this work, and if so, what phono stage would you suggest? I'm thinking this is the best solution as this gives me more options to play with experimenting using it with either TT. Budget is £200 or so (preferably less) but I'd like some sort of gain etc adjustment if I do swap it about.
Bear in mind I might swap the cartridges about too so the most flexible option is preferable.
