My fab expensive Philishave shaver started losing its charge capacity some time ago and recently couldn't hold enough charge for a single shave. Since you can't shave while it's in the charge cradle it effectively became useless. A week spent with my Braun travel shaver convinced me that SOMETHING HAD TO BE DONE.
I went onto a spares site and tried to order a replacement battery at £13.99 but they were out of stock and warned that soldering skills would be required. So I opened up the shaver anyway to have a look inside (this is where a set of star security drivers is essential). What I found was two NiMnH cells glued together and soldered into place, making one 2.4V battery. So I rummaged around my drawer and found two spare 2000mAH NiMnH AA cells lying around doing nothing. 30 minutes later, after taking to them with a soldering iron and some hot glue, I have a working shaver that takes a full load of charge, costing me nothing to repair.
