Hello from Scarborough

Hi all I have joined as I was browsing the forum and found it well run and very interesting.
As always you may wonder what brought me here. Well I have recently acquired some vintage audio equipment. Unfortunately as I cannot find the room for this system I am going to have to sell. This was not my main reason for coming here.
My user name comes from my youth in my days in my days as in personal security protecting the high and mighty in which I have travelled the world seeing many sights, but now I am happy pottering around at home keeping my self busy.
I have very little knowledge on the items I have to let go but know they are rather valuable.
I will be later making a post regarding the tannoys and look forward to hearing from anyone who knows with some images in the gallery of my vintage setup.
It's great to be here amongst so many knowledgeable members and I look forward to getting involve. My main hobby is amateur radio but also interested in anything vintage.
The system I have is a quad 303 amp,radio,preamp. Tannoy gold 15" gfr in original Cabinets, revox g36 reel to reel and garrard 401 sme . All original untouched and sound fantastic!
Regarding music I like, well it ranges for classical to heavy rock, throw in a little trance and that about sums it up. ��
For now I will say thanks for accepting me and my best wishes go out to everyone.

My - you have inherited an absolute classic, if not 'state of the art', system of the mid to late '60s. Wonderful! :)

The Quad electronics and Garrard deck/SME arm will be no larger than modern equivalents, so need not to be a reason to let them go. The same for the Revox G36, unless you have no interest in making or replaying tapes.

Regarding the Tannoys, the Guy R. Fountain designs (GRF) can be very large, especially the 'Autograph':

so I can understand your desire to sell them.

As to an alternative, if you want to stick with 'vintage' Tannoys, I would look at something like the Tannoy 'Berkeley': https://audiogold.co.uk/product/tannoy-berkeley/ , or the 'Devon': https://audiogold.co.uk/product/tannoy-devon/, but I'm not that knowledgable regarding Tannoy brand.

You might also like to consider designs made for the BBC, such as Spendor or Harbeth brands.

I'm just 'ish' down the road in North Lincolnshire near the Humber Bridge, but Yorkshire born ...music wise i'm similar to your tastes but adding in Jazz too
