For Sale John Wood KT88 Intergrated Valve Amp

After 3 years of blissful ownership im moving on to something new so my JW KT88 is up for sale.
John hand builds all his amps and even winds his own transformers. a quality valve amp both in sound a components.
It has fitted a Goldpoint stepped attenuator and was checked over by the man himself shortly after i bought it.
The amp was also checked over more recently by John caswell when i purchased some GEC valves from him and according to his eqipment was pushing around 115 watts.

Please be aware that all the valves in the photos are not included in the sale but will be available separately should the amp sell and the the new owner not wish to buy them. The amp will come with all the stock valves that were in it when i bought.
Johns amps do not come on the market often so be quick if you want a quality valve amp.Im happy to demo and im based in brighton.
£980. Delivery could be an option but depends where you are and would also be for fuel costs.

Very nice things are john wood amps, I used to own a pair of his KT88 monoblocks, amazing value for the sound quality:eyebrows:

I ran a custom built pair of johns monoblocks, brilliant amps only downside i can think of is fixed bias which means a technition to change output valves every few years, but sound wise you wont get better than these without spending multiples of this selling price.

I've always lusted after a JW amp - spoke to John once about him building an amp for me. But at the time he was backed up with work and other stuff. Love the utilitarian aesthetic of his designs. Were it not for the fact I've too many amps as it is I would be round like a shot grabbing these amps, particularly as I live nearby.

Regarding the fixed bias, it really is easy to do yourself. John showed me. If that puts anyone off who’s otherwise interested then I’m happy to show them how to do it.

Does it have bias points and pots on the top? I've rebiased amps before that have them just using a multimeter, it's easy when you know what values to set.

I wouldn't have wanted to fix clips to resistors underneath though then had to fiddle with little screw pots , not with the lethal voltages inside the amp, that I would definitely have left to a professional.

Yes for sure if you don’t know what your doing and can’t control your hands then yes I agree best to let a professional do it. Lol

Anyway the bias has been checked and adjusted so it doesn’t need doing.

Don't forget the lifetime warranty john offered, not once did he charge me for his time to replace valves, I always swapped them out way before their life was over. Useful if you are local to Nottingham.
