If there are more woofers on the side then they're going to be immense [emoji16]

Around 18 months ago i damaged a pair of speakers i had borrowed from a fellow neboite. Without going into details i had to sell my beloved Kralk TDB12 speakers to fund the purchase of the damaged speakers and their repair. I then sold the speakers and bought some Dali model 8 speakers as a stop gap. I considered dozens of speakers and listened to as many too and nothing came close to my Kralk's. This was confounded by the fact that Kralk audio had fallen victim to unscrupulous con men and were no longer trading. I kept in touch with Alan Clark of Kralk via social media. A few months ago i noticed some pictures of speakers being built by Alan that looked breath taking. I contacted him and he informed me that they were all part of a new range he was working on for his soon to be launched "Alchris Audio". I asked Alan if he would build me a pair of speakers and sent him some drawings. Working to my brief he advised me what was possible and what was not. Over a few weeks we agreed a design, finish, specs etc and he set about making them for me.
Which brings me to my present fortunate position of taking delivery of my custom V20 Progmeister specials. They are a dark walnut finish with two Visaton 8" bass drivers, two Visaton mid range drivers and a top of the range Visaton soft dome tweeter. All drivers have better specs than their equivalent Scanspeak and s SEAS alternatives. The bulk of the budget went on the drivers. I can report that these beast go well beyond all of my expectations. They are simply stunning. Service too has been amazing. These have been hand made and tested and far exceed all of the speakers i listened to off the peg as it were.
One of the back panel labels had the misspelling of "Progmeister". When this came to Alan's attention having seen a comment about the picture below, he contacted me immediately and within the hour had new labels in the post top me. Top geezer. Specs are on the rear label on the picture below.

That's such an uplifting tale, to work with a talented supplier and have custom speakers to your spec.

Plus then to be blown away with them :wow::rock:

Lets just say "a lot". However, having owned B&W 801 which is my all time favourite classic and many others besides these blow the mothers into the weeds and without the need for a Krell to do it. When Alchrist Audio are up and running proper i urge anyone looking for new speakers to put the brand on your list. Check out Alan Clark's FBP and you can see how the Progmeister specials evolved and also get a glimpse of the new range. Kralk Audio owners you invested wisely! For thos that want some of the same experience will need to keep their eyes and ears open for the Alchrist range which are as stunning.

They look very nice Steve and they suit your room size, are you happy with the sound?.

Alan

Hey Alan good to hear from you. Yes, the basic design was taken from there. \however, it has been totally revamped by Alan for my needs. Dimensions have been altered, better driver/Xover component specs and finish have been massively changed. Please come and have a liten to them.

You've been on quite a journey, and this destination is well deserved. I know we'll all be excited to hear them (NEBO?) What are the dimensions? They look big buggers. I like big speakers :)

Tannoy D700, Usher Mini Dancer 2 Diamond, B&W 801 (original) Castle Howard, Heco Statement. All of which needed powerful amplification to drive them.

Was the 801 the 80s one with squarish pods Steve? I compared those with my ESS Monitors then.

Alan

Yes they are based on the old Wilmslow design, ive made quite a few pairs of them over the years, the cabinets are altered slightly and have more bracing partitions inside, the midrange cabinet is optimized for the drivers as the wilmslow one is a bit small, crossovers are also different to the wilmslow version and they integrate better with the mids, ive jute lined the critical panel areas in the mid and bass chambers and the rest of the damping is wadding and foam, side cover fitting olso helps with the edge diffraction for a nice deep stereo image, we should be up and running soon with Alchris Audio and are looking at a launch date of around 1st August although much of that depends on how the driver manufacturers progress with opening up and supplying drivers, its a bit slow at the moment, the V20 wont be part of the official range but it will be available to custom order from Alchris Audio if anybody wants them.
