Hypex Ncore Power amp

This is my Audiophonics MPA-S250NC balanced power amp bought early Feb 2021. It's an absolute power house but can do delicate too. Sounds fabulous in my system throwing up a large, precise and well separated soundstage with plenty of width, depth and height.
In as new condition, any apparent marks in photos are reflections.

Power: 150W @ 8ohm, 250W @ 4ohm 2x180W @ 2 ohm


Only selling because I've decided to go back to an integrated. Cost me £456 inc delivery and import costs. I do have XLR to line adapters which I used for a while with a Tisbury passive pre which worked very well.

My current amp is based on the Hypex UCD180 but I had the urge to try an Ncore. This one seemed very reasonably priced. Using the same pre amp I plugged the Ncore in and the improvement was immediately obvious. More powerful, expected, but also better all round, delicate when required, better imaging,width and depth, and clear as a bell without ever being harsh. Turn the volume way up and it just gets louder without distortion.

I am using this ncore stereo amp MPA-250nc in my bedroom together with audiolab 8200cdq and the combo is terrific. Sound is very punchy and dynamic. No harshness and you can turn up the volume to high levels and the sound stays good. I am using it with monitor audio gx50 loudspeakers.
I have had many amps (plinius, emotiva, denon) and this ncore amp is very good in comparison. I am thinking to replace my emotiva xpr-5 with purifi based amps in the future for the living room as well. Highly recommended.

This is a fabulous amp, powerful, detailed and no harshness. If it's the balanced input that puts you off then as I said, I can include XLR to line level convertors which I used without problems before I got a balanced pre-amp. I can also include balanced to line level cables if you'd prefer.

Amazed this hasn't been snapped up, I've heard it and it's all that Ian says and more. The way it drives his 4 driver Jordans with such control and precision is stunning. And it has the power to cope with pretty much any load. Sn absolute bargain at this price.
