Just in case anyone is not aware of this, you can opt out of the NHS sharing your confidential personal data with other organisations for the purposes of "being used for research and planning" (believe that if you trust the government in any way, shape or form).

The deadline has been extended, it was the 23rd of June 2021 but it's now 30th of September 2021.

If you want to opt-out, here's the link. You'll need your NHS number.

"Your choice will only apply to the health and care system in England. This does not apply to health or care services accessed in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland."

As I understand it that's because they are not giving the data to third parties. It's not because they can't opt out

Thank you, opted out a couple of days ago. Also remember opting out several years ago for something similar.

Probably the Type-2 opt out. It's now been integrated into this opt out apparently.

You still need it as Type 2 only covers part of it.

The new opt out covers all of it.

Not much point opting out if I have read the "when your choice does not apply" section correctly - there seem to be numerous situations where they can use your data regardless.
In fact, it could be the case, that by opting out you are giving them more information about yourself/opinions :doh:

Wouldn't surprise me. The government are basically self-obsessed, self-serving, thieving bastards who think they can help themselves to anything they like as they think they own everything.

But, any chance to stand up against data theft and I'll take it!
