Hi , My name is Andrew and I am a newbie/novice to Vintage Audio.

Music tastes most music except Heavy Metal .I like music from 60s and 70s.

I have just purchased an Amplifier Sony STR 7035 and Turntable Rotel RP 1500 and pair of vintage
Castle Durham Speakers still to set this combo up as I am waiting on Turntable .

Do you think this set up will be OK?
Also what stylus would you recommend ( not too expensive)

Kind Regards

Hello Andrew. Welcome to AOS.

There's plenty of interest in vintage equipment here, take a look through the Past Masters section.

Join in the chat, everybody is friendly and there's a lot going on.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Awwright, Andy, ma man, welcome to AoS! Plenty of Scots here too, so also welcome to the Scottish mafia!:D Know Falkirk quite well, nice place and a good halfway house between Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as being near Stirling. I use to live in Glasgow:)

Anyway, get stuck in and enjoy... Are you a footy fan at all?

Welcome to AoS Andrew,

I am unfamiliar with the equipment you have bought for your proposed set up, but see no reason why it should not work well together. The Castle speakers have a good reputation, though sadly the company is no longer in business. Your Sony receiver has sufficient power to drive the speakers, though don't expect the system to be able to play heavy metal rock bands at high volume!

Regarding a suitable, and affordable cartidge for your turntable, I would suggest either a Nagaoka MP11 or a Shure M75ED.

Enjoy the Forum
Barry

Nice one, mate. Sounds like a fun week! Hope you have a good time, and that we have something good to celebrate on Monday - come on Stevie and the boys!! :more::more:

Oh, and it would be good for you to contribute to the Euro footy thread when you get the chance: https://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?73151-UEFA-Euro-2020-(now-2021)
