Mrs. P is currently watching "Jurassic World" with a right face on her, because our old Sony STR-DH800 had died, and she wants to hear dinosaurs coming up behind her. She wants something to replace it (the amp, not the T. Rex). Before I go down to Richer Sounds, has anybody got anything that might fit the bill?

You want a Denon 3805 or similar, I've had a couple in the past, paid £50 for each, boxed with remote. Assuming you don't need Bluetooth, mobile phone control app etc.

Edit: might not have HDMI that one, if not and you need it get a slightly later model.

How many channels do you require? How much power? I have an Onkyo TX SR605 going spare

My set up is 5.1, and I don't need a lot of power. Speakers are Monitor Audio Radius, which are easy enough to drive. If your Onkyo has HDMI it should be ideal for the job :) But it has to be black! Mrs. P is weird about such things.

Okay Steve, I’ll keep an eye out for it. There’s one or two on t’bay if you want to see how it looks.
