I disconnected my system for a couple of months (risk of new puppy chewing cables, hopefully now over :))

Wow! absence certainly makes heart grow fonder - switched on yesterday and sounds are so much better than I remembered.

Nice one, Guy. I get the same effect (as I'm sure others also do) when coming home from a summer holiday, 2-3 weeks of being away, and fire on a few choons...

Always sounds amazing, as your ears have been 'deprived' of high-quality sound for a significant amount of time (perhaps after having spent that time hearing music via earbuds, the car radio, squawking speakers on beaches/in bars, or other low-fi sounds in comparison), so it's a 'treat' again to enjoy high-fidelity sound at home!:)

I'd also recommend giving your system a 'holiday', if for any reason it's not sounding good and you're struggling to sort it. Often, it's partly a psychological effect, due to fatigue, if you've been listening critically for hours (or days) on end, trying to fix it and it's getting you down.. Sounds familiar?

Far better to switch it off and go and do something else for a few days, then come back to it when your ears have rested and your head's in a better place. When you go back to it, often it sounds fine, or at least much better than it did!

I've noticed when I get to my place in Durham and fire up the system (Jas Audio Orior Grands with ribbon tweeters and ceramic woofers plus Gainclone amp) it sounds a bit tinny for the first hour. When I get back to London it sounds like the tweeters are broken [emoji38]
