My system is Rega P1/RB101/Bias2 - Cambridge Audio 551P phono pre amp -Musical fidelity CD Pre 24 - Meridian 557 amp - Proac super towers - Rel Stygian (Goldring Lenco GL69 also makes an occasional appearance).
I like a wide range of music including classical, organ, rock (Genesis / Pink floyd etc)

Don't very often change equipment but turntable upgrade is next on the list.

Hi John, I see you have an REL Stygian. I heard one of these once at hifi show at Heathrow. Richard Lord was demonstrating and playing a film soundtrack with very low bass. I seem to remember that the specs said this could go down to 8Hz. There wasn't much musical enjoyment to be had as all that was obvious was the whole room inc the floor was shaking and probably threatening the structural integrity.

If you like organ music then the Styg must come into it's own.

Marco and Puffin - Organ music probably makes up 1/3 of my listening. I used to go to a lot of recitals and trying to recreate the sound at home is not easy, especially 16 and 32 foot pipes. The Proac super towers do a reasonable job and the Stygian I got to fill out the lowest registers. it is set to roll of around 36hz and certainly helps. Considering it was bought 29 years ago it's still a good piece of kit but I did have the internal amplifier repaired 3 years ago. I don't know how it compares with more modern Sub woofers as haven't heard any.

Yeah, very hard to get the lowest notes of a church organ right... However, 'The Styg' is an example of subs, done well. What do you think of these babies I had the pleasure of experiencing last year, in 'full flow', during a rather pleasant evening of choral music:
