Some 1976 Sansui’s that I just picked up locally, the guy bought them new in Dubai in 1976, he clearly took care them.
I haven’t listened to them yet and I’m not expecting anything more than average.

yes they are capable speakers and work best fairly loud i think

92db sensitivity, won't need much power to get high levels from them. Designed back when watts were expensive. Quite like Kabuki speakers myself, they have their foibles but what design of speaker doesn't?

Need to be close to a wall to get some bass response out of them although that's a plus for many rooms where sticking the speaker out in the open is just not possible.

These are definitely not to be laughed at guys , I’ve hooked them up to my Quad vena and they are bloody good speakers, they went a bit fuzzy for a minute so I’m guessing the caps needed charging or something but they’re singing away now [emoji2]

If they had a "fuzzy" moment, it could well be dirty pots on the level controls. Work them back and forth a bit, that may clean them up enough for now. You can use contact cleaner too, just be careful with it as it can dissolve some plastics.

I’ve cleaned them with contact cleaner and all is well .

I’ve cleaned them with contact cleaner and all is well

Switch cleaning lubricant is what you need for cleaning pots i.e Super Servisol 10. Swich cleaner is for contacts and regular use on pots can/will make the problem worse by in effect "drying out" the carbon track of the control making it brittle.

I've never seen carbon track pots in speakers and can't imagine anybody using them as the power handling of wirewound items is needed. And wirewound should be fine with switchcleaner.

I used wd40 contact cleaner which I’ve used for years , so far without issues as far as I’m aware .
Anyway I’ve replaced the caps and the speakers are now perfect, AND surprisingly good , not worth selling for what I’d get for them , I also have some excellent b&w P6 speakers which I’m getting silly offers .
