View Full Version : Gale GS401a , any owners on here ?
Do we have any owners on here or enthusiasts of the speakers that may be able to answer a question or 2 ?
Cheers

Got all the bits you needed yet Andy?
Do yours use the Acoustic Research AR6 bass drivers as in the original model? They were uncoated, later ones had a Plastiflex doping and were of a different type I believe.

I’m not in any need of any bits mate , they are working fine , I will take a closer look at them this weekend and let you which drivers they have , I was wondering about the pairs thing , as in are they the same or were there left and right speakers ( I know they were not always sold in pairs) so the tweeters are both in the same places on the baffles .

All the drive units look in nice condition. Bass drivers are later type and those and the mids look as though they may have had new cone surrounds, if I recall the mids had inverted roll foam originally, the perforated dome over the HF2000 tweeters is often missing unlike yours (it's one of the best sounding tweeters around).
And now with fully authentic peerless mids ...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210321/b958912966ffa2b00447fa711594f9a6.jpg

Hi Andy, my dad used to have a pair of these (with the 'Jetson' speaker stands too!).
He drove them using a (Bob) Carver M400 amplifier, weird magnetic field design but it worked very well. Super controlled and deep bass.

Thanks for that Chris , I’ll research the amp .
