These originally started out as Mark Baker of Origin Live’s first foray into speakers.
These were bought as prototypes many moons ago ,forgot I had them in my attic and during lockdown thought I’d give them a refresh and a bit of TLC.
Two way sealed enclosure using the Focal TC90K tweeter and Focal 5K013L midbass driver
Enclosure is lined with dedshete panels, internal cabling of Hitachi LC-OFC SSX to the woofer and Duelund silver foil in silk to the tweeter.
External Crossover built from a kit from Falcon Acoustics ages ago, again internally wired with Hitachi LC-OFC cable.
If you wish the crossover can be upgraded and it can accommodate the Jantzen 100 x 150mm PCB from HiFi Collective
Speaker cable is Hitachi LC-OFC SSX-104 with VDH screw on spades/bananas connecting from the crossover to Jantzen carbon jacket binding posts.
Cabinets are MDF and lower cavity filled with foam and sand, tweeter is sort of decoupled from the rest of the cab as its mounted on an aluminium plate, speakers sit on heavy duty outriggers.
Sprayed in what was originally satin black but I started polishing and they ended up high gloss piano black, not a bad DIY effort during lockdown.
Dimensions to follow once I've found the tape measure !
Difficult to price start with £475 with collection from Southampton.

They look very nice....and a bit different drive unit wise to some of the commercial stuff.
Interesting. How do they sound?

They look excellent, I love the attention to detail on the crossovers - very well made.

Yay high, by so deep, by that wide.
No doubt the OP will have found his tape measure soon and can fill in the vagaries of my most unhelpful post. :)

Nice tweeters, same as used in the Impulse H2.

Give me a chance guys
Dimensions of main cab are depth 21cm ,width 20cm ,with a height inc outriggers of 91cm the outriggers give a footprint of 45cm depth by 20cm.
I think they sound pretty good treble is nice and sweet with the TC90 and what bass is there is pretty good had some Faithless on last night and the neighbour certainly knew about it.
Ideally in a none covid world you would be welcome a listen :)
The original design from Mark did have a woofer in the base but trying to back engineer the crossover was a nightmare so went two way.
No doubt an addition of a sub would improve things further, I was hoping to get one for a play.

When these speakers came up last weekend and I noticed Rob was also in Southampton I cheekily contacted him to see if he could help with some cartridge mounting fixings as a cartridge I acquired on this site from another seller had two sets of short screws but not the longer ones ( seller oversight no doubt). Rob said he could and that he would deliver on Sunday, which he did.
So a weekend bump for his listing and to say Rob is a good fella to deal with!

Just trying to understand a bit more about the conversion from 3 way to 2 way. I imagine the cabinet at the top was originally designed for the mid driver to hand over to the driver in the bottom set in a separate lower cabinet.
Could you explain what the changes are to make it a 2 way speaker? Just wondering as you say "what bass there is", so trying to work out what effect removing the bass driver will have had.

Hi Lawrence
A bass driver was mounted at the bottom in the speakers plinth not sure how the crossover was configured it was all hard wired and a mess.
I think it may of acted as a sub.
Falcon Acoustics at the time we’re selling a crossover for the Focal drivers as a kit hence the easy conversion to 2 way.
If I get some time might measure them with REW.

Thanks Rob so it's a 2 way crossover rather than a 3 way with the sub circuit removed. That's good to know. Measurements would be very useful if you have time thanks.

well hopefully I've used REW correctly took a sweep with and without a single REL Quake subwoofer I was after another :)
green with sub and red without sub - result I think looks pretty good the speakers start dropping off at 80hz - I'll continue to have a play as the results look too good to be true ;)

bump
I now have two Quake subs - currently having a play integrating with my horns not bad when they’ve got a bit of weight on them.

Oh forgot to add I’ll be fitting a couple of Taket Batpure supertweeters been having a play with some I use with my horns and I like what they do .
Currently playing with the subs and supertweeters sounding very nice indeed.
Speakers with the added supertweeters will be £450
2 x REL Quakes subwoofers £250
Not interested in selling the Quakes separately £250 is if you buy the speakers and £450 is pretty firm for the speakers considering what you’re getting.

Sorry I never said thanks for the measurements. They look good with a sub as you say, unfortunately my current setup doesn't allow me to use one so GLWS.
