Interesting set up John.

I am more of a silver period Pioneer fan and mainly their tuners, however I would love to get my hands on a Pioneer 91 tuner.

I see you like anime :) I am more into the standalone movies than the series. Akira (first anime I ever saw wow) Appleseed, Steamboy, Ghost in the Shell, Sky Blue etc.

I see an album sleeve for Battle of the Planets (I know it had a different name and characters in the original Japanese)which I loved when I was a kid.

Thanks for sharing the photos.

I love the look of the Pioneer Elite components. Glad to see someone else using XL II-S tapes as well. :)

I tend to agree, well with the silver bit at any rate :lolsign: In my opinion they made some of their best kit back when it was silver. I happen to own a Pioneer CTF-950 cassette deck (http://www.blatata.com/electr/5756-deck-pioneer-ct-f950.html) & i really haven't heard a lot that beat it quality wise, maybe a few top end Nakamichis' & that's about it ;)

What is it with you & tuners? :eyebrows:

Some nice kit there John, nice to see someone else who gets things running as they should again :) Keep up the good work ;)

Nice collection of Pioneer kit there John,

but I really couldn't be bothered with all those remotes. I only have one remote (for my CD player), but it is never used.

My CD player is within arms-reach of my listening seat. If I were to use a remote, I think I really would be a near-terminal case of 'couch potato-itis'!

I don't see a Spec 1 and Spec 2 in that collection.

A picture from my old pioneer days.

I don't see a Spec 1 and Spec 2 in that collection.

yeah, the mid-eighties through the early nineties
are my personal halcyon years regarding the PIONEER brand.
i also like the odd 1970's, 1990's and 2000's piece,
but those are generally fairly isolated cases...

and alot of it.

CLD-3030 COMBINATION LASERDISC PLAYER

I used to have a Pioneer CLD-1050 combi player which I bought in Akihabara, Tokyo. It was a fab machine and I built up quite a collection of PAL and NTSC Laserdiscs. However, when DVD was launched I bought a Pioneer multi-region DVD player and sold my 1050 and laserdisc collection :(

I still have my 8cm Video CD discs, though. I can play the CD tracks but not the video any more.

well, i finally joined the 21st century, about as much as i ever feel i'm about to, anyway;

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/MacGyver%20System%202011/MacGSystem-12-14-11.jpg

yes, it's an Effin' SAMSUNG, LCD type.

it really does the job for me quite handily though; with the proper picture settings,
and ALL of the DNR functions OFF, all my SD sources-

(S-VHS VCR, LD, vintage Video Games)

-look better than ever.

after being used to CRT tech my whole life, it took a little getting used to,
but as soon as i adjusted to the idiosyncrasies of the technology,
i was in heaven.

yes, this thing lets all of my SD sources' shine their deficiencies right through, but it also displays all of their strengths in high relief as well.

you adjust, and get used to it, and you find that it, on the whole,
is a far superior way to roll in SD than CRT tech ever was.

now, as far as my DV-09 DVDP is concerned? i can finally use COMPONENT VIDEO connection, and, of course, it has never looked better...

Nice one Tasuke. A shame Pioneer stopped making their Plasmas. :(

Aha - this thread had passed me by before!

So ... you like Pioneer gear, then, John?

Nice collection!

I must admit I think that higher end Japanese speakers are much under-rated over here in the UK. Yamaha 1000M and it's higher price compatriots are about it, I think. They really can sound very good ... I always fancied getting my mits on some of the HPM series speakers, but never quite got around to it.

Got this Pioneer kit as part of an e-bay bargain bundle - £2.20 (about $3.50) about five years ago and it's still going strong.

Nice one... Love your system.

The KENWOOD/TRIO KD-1033 is a fantastic TT.... I am tempted to get one just for the hell of it. My father had one back in the 70's too!
