Hi

Looking for a suggestion for a light I could put over the top of my turntable. Preferably mains powered any ideas?

Many thanks

William

I've one of these (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Protection-Dimmable-Brightness-Gooseneck-Headboard/dp/B07RT32SG6/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=turntable+light&qid=1611852737&sr=8-5) it's great, use an old phone charger to power it from the mains.

Is it purely for light or are you trying to warm up the cartridge?

(not taking the Mickey, it used to be thought a good idea to use a lamp to warm up the cartridge assembly)

I use something similar, although with a usb battery used to charge phones etc to avoid a 5v PSU.

I use one of those ubiquitous IKEA LED lamps. It has a clamp, so I simply clip it to the shelf my turntable sits on.

Hi Guys

Thanks. For the suggestions, ordered one from Amazon as suggested by Killie99, thanks Stuart. I only want it for lighting up the turntable so as to position the cartridge on the record, at present I have to put the main light on.

Regards

William

Any one know of any mains powered LED clip-ons that will also read a strobe for speed setting?

Here's what I use, its extremely adjustable and has a variety of color temperatures and a usb charging point,
its a Tao Tronics Model TT-DL22. Its ideal for spotting the gaps between tracks and serving as a light for soldering.

For setting up cartridges I use a Lenser LED V2 rechargeable torch so I can see exactly where the stylus touches down on my alignment gauge.

Careful using LED lamps as they can emit noise which can be picked up by your system. I had an IKEA lamp which was great until I put it anywhere near my turntable or preamp and then it caused all sorrts of buzzing!

Hi Jimbo, this one is totally quiet and only needs 12v. I've never experienced any interference but my system is driven by a PS Audio re-generator.
