Hi all I'm Gary from near Milton Keynes England
Soul Disco Funk is my love but now I'm 55 years old I'm enjoying Jazz and classical music as well
Anyway I have just inherited a Linn system from the widow of a very dear friend of mine who died 13 years ago
She would love it if I could breathe some life back int the system and get it working so we could listen to his tunes again on it and have a good cry
It is a Sondek LP12, Ekos tonearm, Troika cartridge,LK1 preamp and two LK 280 power amps

I have unpacked it all from its original packaging and there's a few problems
The tonearm doesn't lift from the lifter handle and the securing clip has snapped, could these be repaired?
She seems to remember that one of the amps is blown so that will need looking at
There are no speakers as he unfortunately sold his Linn Isobariks many years ago
There is a wooden plinth he had made so I might be able to sell that and buy some cheap linn speakers
Anyway I've just realised I might be posting this in the wrong place ,sorry about that

Any advice would be appreciated thanks
Gary

Nice system to inherit, worth sorting the turntable first

Welcome to AoS Gary,

Yes, a nice system to inherit. The arm ought to be able to be repaired - if Linn cannot help, there are other independent arm specialists who can be approached for advice.

Quick update, i installed the Ekos tonearm last night and wired up the Troika.i noticed a couple of the resistors on the board had dry joints and I sorted them out.
I ppowered up the Sondek and the motor span but if I put a tiny bit of pressure on it the motor stopped and vibrates, any advice would be great
I bought a pair of Linn Index speakers for 80 quid off ebay to get me started also picking up xlr audio cables this afternoon should have it running tonight maybe, then again I may need to oil the bearing, could I use 3 in 1 oil till I got some of the Linn oil?
Serial number is 69142 so what type of oil will it need?
Thanks for listening
