hi guys.
to make a long story short, i inherited my very first turntable,
a real turd, from my father. it was a 1970's BSR "200 BAX"

and, nearly ten years later, i found my current TT
for $1.00 at a rummage sale, a german made
ELAC MIRACORD 46 rebadged for RADIO SHACK's REALISTIC imprint;

i fully restored and modified it, removing the junk stock
RCA's and power cord. i also removed the wood plinth
and polished it with OLD ENGLISH wood polish,
as well as shining up the dust cover with
a plastic scratch remover/polish.
while i was at it, i re-lubed the mechanism,
added a set of high-quality stereo RCAs and a
thick power cable with three ferrite beads slipped
around it, and added a set of kitchen table levelling-feet
to the base to serve as isolators;

i'm quite satisfied with it, and could easily live with it
permanently. it does indeed look and sound fantastic, after all...
