Hi all.

I have this for sale as its now surplus to requirements.

It's an Ex-BBC PPM unit. Used by a friend of mine who used to work for the been in London.

This was a test unit used to check stuff in the control room back in the 70s and 80s.

The boards are made to the specific BBC spec. See pics.

It uses the BS5428-9 Surrey PPM 2a spec boards and Sifam meters.

The meter tracks really well with no problems.

The meters are illuminated but just needs a pair of bulbs. Very easy to install.

It also has foldable feet to tilt it back if required.

XLR loop I/O connections

17cm height
29cm width
26cm depth

Have no idea where I'd use it in my system but it looks very very cool.

Great bit of kit. Peak Programme Meter. Link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_programme_meter)

The wiki link specifically mentions the BS standard (5428-9) the Surrey board is made to.

Also interesting link here (https://groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=70747.0).

Like AnDreW I think it would be cool in a system.

Indispensable for tapeheads and indeed anyone who does serious recording or broadcasting. Much more accurate than VUs (Virtually Useless according to the BBC). PPM4 = -18dBFs - 0VU

Thanks guys.

The meters are illuminated, just need two bulbs.

And yes, much better to use than VU (V.irtuously U.seless)

They will only cost a couple of quid for a pair of bulbs from RS or similar.

Its a lovely bit of kit. Will pack really well.

I'm open to offers for this. It is a very rare bit of kit and in smashing working condition.

Josie , What's you best AudioAl price for this , Don't RS now charge a £5 fee for delivery ?Hey, Al...

For you, as a speshAl price. I will do £170. Delivery would be around £10 I'd imagine for next day.

...But I'll include that in the price. So £170 all in.

Regarding bulbs, it depends where you get the bulbs from... I'd imagine you can most definitely get them on ebay for a lot cheaper.

They're a generic type, nothing special.
