Indeed! Fascinating stuff huh?
There's just something beautiful about some of those photos. The colours are so rich.
Colour certainly brings that period to life. I feel we are almost conditioned to think in black & white for anything this old normally.

i like the ones of industry at the time, the welder and the lady with the rivet gun etc
i love that sort of thing!
cracking photo's, i love vintage stuff, the colour makes them so look so real and very fresh looking if thats the right term for it
Fantastic. Quality of photography is amazing. Love to know the equipment.
Great snapshot into the Empire at its productive peak.

Absolutely incredible. It really does make you feel like there's very little removed between now and 70 years ago. Just seeing the clothes in colour is an education. I must admit I found some of those pictures breathtaking.

Wow.
Fantastic photos. Thank you Lee for taking the time to post the link and draw our attention to them.
I can't help but wonder if 70 years from now how much of our digital photos will still be around  Me thinks analogue may well be a better more long lasting medium.
Loved the one of the Sheppard on horse with his dog and the photo of the early Mustang fighter.

Wow, amazing pics - but check these out too. Colour pix from 1910 - yes, you read that right. Apparently the camera took a trio of pictures in rapid succession each with a red, green and blue filter. When correctly combined on projection - perfect colour. Amazing.

The photos of America are great, the Russian photos are awesome ;)
The one that struck me was the truss bridge built on stone supports. I bet that's still there & just needs a lick of paint on the steel structure every so often.
They just don't make stuff like they used to :eyebrows: There are still lots of roman buildings standing made out of concrete, yet road bridges here in Peterborough that were put up in the 70s' are crumbling & need months of maintanance
Lovely pictures :) Sorry about the mini rant
