Changes quite often but the turntable was dropped off to fit a new optical cartridge from DS Audio.

I will miss it, sounded superb.

Maxonic are a Japanese company, they specialize in field coil speakers which is what mine are.

You have to hear them to understand. Just astonishing. Hearing a pair of these (not David's) has kindled an interest in old Altecs, from which the Maxonics clearly take some inspiration. Anyway, when my boat comes in, a pair of these will grace my suitably generous sized living room.

Yes, I think there is an Audio Note design that uses a field coil - and necessitates a specially wired (or modified) tonearm.

In a similar vein, I don't understand why Alnico magnets are preferred by some over rare earth magnets. A magnetic field is a magnetic field, why should its source make an audible difference?
