Greetings,
I am setting up a new (first) listening room. I've got the basic install done (see picture below), and now wonder about room treatment. With 20/20 hindsight, TT in corner was possibly not the best choice, but I think I can manage. I did notice increased bass right in the corner, so will build a 4" thick mineral wool 2x4 ft corner bass trap up into the corner. The corner area of the cabinet I built could also accommodate some more bass traps hidden out of sight. Questions:
- Bass trap within corner of cabinet, worthy or pointless?
- If worthy, placement might be a trade-off. I put the power regulator (summer dips to 90V, nominal 120V) and power conditioner at the bottom to keep it as far away from TT as possible. So I could put a bass trap in the back of the middle shelf, maybe put 7"/singles in opening. However, bass traps are most effective in trihedral corner, so should I place bass trap at bottom and move power center form lower to middle shelf? That would put the power center closer to phono preamp (Vincent PHO701) and TT. What's better? Or six of one, half dozen of the other?

Second question about sorbothane isolation feet. The TT currently sits on 3/4" (actually 0.709") plywood shelf, and the top corner is re-enforced with another 0.7" piece of plywood doweled-glued together, so pretty stiff. The VPI super prime scout has some isolation feet of its own. Would I gain anything by building another 0.7" plywood base with sorbothane feet to hold the TT?

I will put up some normal absorption panels (2x4' 2" thick) up as well, plus rug for wood floors. It's in progress ...
And if you wonder why I did a corner set-up, the room is square (18x18', I know, I know, but that's what I have) with one corner (behind me with tall book shelves) cut off half way. That's why I did a diagonal set-up. There is also a double bed in the room (spare/guest bed room) which will act as a bass trap (mattress-comforter) as well.
