CMoy headphone amp... not quite finished yet.

With a bit more practise I reckon I could get it even smaller!

I'm particularly impressed with the miniature ALPS volume pot! :)

Hi Mike

I made one earlier this year. Its fun trying to cram the components in a small space. The sound quality is surprisingly good for such a simple amp, and the batteries last a long time too.

Which schematic did you follow?

I feel a competition coming on! :eyebrows:

Hi Richard,

Schematic is shown HERE. (http://tangentsoft.net/audio/cmoy-tutorial/misc/cmoy-tangent-sch.pdf) Nice and simple. :)

Cheers...

No.. that's way too complicated! ;)

 Yeah that is kind of a simple circuit ;) What op amp are you going to be using? NE5532 springs to mind with this kind of application, dead easy to improve the thing to if you wanted to. The mods i'd have in mind though would make it worthwhile investing in a couple of rechargeable PP3 batteries ;)

E2A:- I can see something that'd improve it straight away, in fact i really don't know why it hasn't been wired like this in the fist place

The centre of the two batteries should be connected to the ground point where the two resistors are dividing the rail voltage (power supply section) & instead of a SPST switch (single pole single throw) i'd use a DPST (double pole single throw) switch & have the second switch in the negative rail :)

At that point the dividing resistors could be removed & thus increase battery life
