Sorry about the dodgy quality of the photo's but I can't find the charger for the decent camera!
Anyway, here's the raw ingredients...

A pair of WBT-0110Ag plugs, FlexTech carbon fibre braid, and 1.2M of Neotech NEVD-2001 cable.
The Neotech NEVD-2001 is a pure silver digital cable designed to meet the 75 ohm spec of the SPDIF format. This is a fantastic cable between your transport and DAC. The inner conductor is made with pure silver, while the dielectrics used are foamed Polyethylene and microporous PTFE Teflon. This cable is triple shielded and uses a copper/mylar foil. The Eichmann Silver Bullets, WBT Silver NextGens, or Furutech Filament RCA's are excellent choices for termination.
Note: the inner braided shield is connected at both the source and load ends. The outer braid (shield) is connected only at the source end of the cable.

First the 'easy' end...

Both cable screens are connected together at this end and a short solid silver 'lead out' wire soldered on. A collet is then crimped on to connect the carbon fibre, which acts as an additional screen, followed by a bit of heat-shrink to keeps things neat and tidy.
Then a plug is soldered on...

You can see the small roll of solder in the last two pictures. WBT-0800 which is a lead based silver bearing solder (4%) which I prefer to use these days... it 'flows' much better than lead free solder! :)
Now the tricky end...

Only the inner braid and copper foil are connected at this end, so the rest is very carefully trimmed back and insulated with heat-shrink.
Then another solid silver 'lead out' soldered on...

Another collet is crimped on to keep things tidy and the other plug soldered on...

So, onto the finished cable...

Adhesive lined heat-shrink provides strain relief where the plugs & sleeve meet. I don't like using the grub screws as it tends to crush and distort the cable profile.
Here it is being soak tested...

Note the data rate being used...

It'll stay on there for a minimum of 24 hours and hopefully the BER (Bit Error Ratio) will remain at zero. Erm... that's pretty much it.

He likes to sit with me while I work most of the time, which isn't usually a problem, but God only knows WTF he's been eating. I had to evacuate the room several times thanks to some spectacularly noxious emissions! :spew:
