Hi does anyone have information on the Tannoy Alnico 12" Bass Driver 072931. I have a pair here and wondering what to do with them. Many thanks, Martin

I expect they look like this:

From the sixties AudioMetric speaker system:

As Tannoys go they were a budget model. Some sellers are lately asking silly money for them, simply for the name.

Hi Geoff, just noticed the come marking 22/301/001 if that means anything. M

That's an early one. Has the Monitor Gold style frame. Later ones were I suspect sourced from Fane.

I purchased these along with two pairs of Monitor Gold DC speakers

Doesn't look budget to me. I wonder if they'd work well in open baffle speakers. Might be a bit small for that.

Paper coned units that size will probably be OK up to maybe 1kHz and start getting a bit ragged above.

Depending on impedance, if you were desperate to try them, they'd probably work with the Goodmans Midax horns and crossovers in Private Exhibitions at the moment. You'd maybe need L Pads though and tweeters of course.

Going to pair them with a pair of Lii Audio Crystal 10 in an open baffle design
