Power Amplifier Recommendations

Well i'm totally finished with Vintage equipment & need to move on pronto, i need to forget about hi-fi & get on with more important things in life so..I'm looking for some recommendations for a modern (reliable) second hand power amplifier.It needs to play detailed, convincing at low level, doesnt have to be the last word in power amps as i never listern to music critically through speakers anyway, more convenience while i'm doing stuff but i don't want no rubbish, headphones are my thang..20/30 watt power amp will do fine.

No Valve amps
No Chip amps

I'll be using CD only through DAC/Pre-amp

Nice little amp that - free of bollocks, 70w per channel, and Rotel have a good reputation when it comes to separates power amps :)

Cambridge do some sensible amps for sensible money.

I was thinking of a Quad 303 while they're still just about affordable (over a ton even so), but as you don't want old and used then I going to stick with Cambridge.

One other and even old ones are good and that is Audiolab!!! I love the M's, but the 8000P in any vintage (late Huntingdon production onwards) is a good solid power amp which will run and run and run.........

You could get a Hlly T-amp for £158 delivered.A bargain IMO.Very good sounding amp.Ask Hamish,he's got it now.All the power you'd need I reckon.

As you know, I have a single ended EL34 amp, not really enough power for average? speakers. Would possibly be OK into efficient ones. It does work well as a headphone amp (which I think it was designed to be).

Perhaps you are keeping the Monitor Audio speakers, efficient?

Meridian 205 monoblocks, 100W RMS into 8ohm & rather nice sound ;)

Why not get a really good headphone amplifier?

The Darkvoice Figaro got a lot of good rep when it first came out. The latest incarnation, the 3322 ($400) is supposedly even better.

Some of the Pro stuff sounds very good. I had a MC2 T500 and it replaced a Bryston 3BST without much loss of quality. If you check some of the other forums a number of other people recommend them. Currently a T1500 for £450 ono on Fleabay at the moment. Although they have fans there normally inaudible from a couple of meter's and due to balanced connectors you can place them close to the speakers with short speaker leads.
