Hi everyone
Ive just joined although i have been an on and off lurker for a few years now ... but i seem to have been here quite a lot recently so i thought i best join in ...
I had been a die hard Linny for many years , a couple of decades even ... but in the past five or so years i started to get a bit disillusioned with my Linn system , I had built up to a pretty high level of spending , and really liked my system , then maybe it was me changing but i was starting to think i was missing something .
Speakers were the first to go and now i have a nice pair of ART Diamond Signature 12's , my second pair of Arts now.
Next went the Linn Solo's to be replaced with my current Sugden MPA-4 Masterclass Monoblocks .... love them.
Linn do , I think , make some superb front ends ... I am keeping my Klimax Kontrol pre amp.
And also my KDS is a keeper for my streaming sessions... or just the convenience for her indoors... and anyway it sounds superb.
Most of my very well specced LP12 went , in pieces , mainly because i went through a spell of not using it much and i decided i needed to free up some of the cash sitting in it.
I then a couple of years ago decided i wanted another deck ... and in a nostalgia moment decided i wanted another Linn Axis , It was my first "proper" turntable. .... So i picked one up , nice Mk2 with an Akito ... Then i painted it silver to match my other remaining Linn boxes and fitted my old Linn Ekos arm and Dynavector XX2 Mk2 Cartridge .... And it sounds great ... i am very happy with it running through a Whest phonostage now .
So at the moment i am in a happy position with no notions of changing anything , I think the only itch i would have is to maybe " try " something with valves ... im not sure what ... but i think it could all be a bit complicated ... so for the moment , all is good in my world ... HiFi world that is ... Obviously the current plague situation isnt good in any way and i cant wait to get forward to " the new normal" whatever that may be.
I guess i should say a little about me as well .... Im a mid 50's Jock exiled down in Yorkshire for the past few years ... conned by my boss to fill in a position for a few months , which has now turned into years ... but hey ho ... thats work.
I like my music , photography , which i dont get to partake in so much at the moment and all things radio controlled ... mainly planes and helicopters these days... i have a few other hobbies that i flit between , but these are the main ones .
All the best
Ian
